The picture above is of the Atomium in Brussels. We went to the new G.I. Joe film and ended up in the wrong theater watching the new Transformers movie. Close enough I suppose.
It was a fresh salad with fruit, nuts, and vegetables. I had the choice of frietjes or bread and I went with the bread. Something about eating fries in Belgium creates a disconnect to how potentially dangerous they are to the diet. They seem so normal and harmless here. Fries are something I literally never, ever, eat in the U.S.. The only place to get fries in the U.S. is at a fast food restaurant and they are not nearly as good. Maybe I should open up a frituur in Boston or something? That could be fun...
I was exchanging information today with a young lady for Dutch lessons. She asked me if I spoke Dutch and I said a little and then she asked me another question and I told her I didn't understand. So much for thinking I was starting to get somewhere with this language. I suppose that is the reason for lessons. It is not so much the subject that needs translating but the subject needs some structure, presentation, and someone who isn't concerned whether or not you like them. Someone to just drill you with it and send you away confused. I took the intensive course which is M-T-W-TH from nine until noon. Which is also good for training and racing. The only problem is the course is for two months and I'm leaving in one month so there is going to be a bit of a gap. A month long gap of no lessons. Hopefully I can test out close to the end of Sept. and receive my certificate for completing level 1. Or maybe I could use the school as great excuse to stay for another month? hmmmmmm
